Let's race!

>Crash Team Racing (1999)
1) Get a Playstation BIOS file (Preferably SCPH-7501) and an original US CTR dump image from somewhere (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vbAs2itnOWirBSMufclOlfvWf_yAhaMr/)
2) Download Launcher from https://www.online-ctr.com/ and follow instructions
3) Configure your controls (or click automatic mapping when it prompts you)
4) Pick a server and room (or make a private one using your IP)
5) Share the info and wait for anons to join
As simple as that!

1) Go to online
2) Wait while it loads
3) Matchmaking mode should probably connect anons together considering the online is not very active anymore, but if that doesn't work, players will need to add each other as friends in their platform of choice in order to make a Private Lobby
4) Wait a lot while it loads
5!) VERY IMPORTANT, since the game loads slightly better in newer consoles (PS5, Switch 2, Xbox X) it's –allegedly– inadvisable to skip the intro cutscene as it'll desync with other players and softlock the race lol

>The Karters
1) Go online, choose a server region
2) Choose "Make Room"
3) There should be a code on the main screen, share that including the region in which you are hosting
4) That's it
Custom tracks should be automatically downloaded as they are picked, but characters and karts won't, so in order to see other player's mods you'll need to subscribe to them on the workshop yourself

Will be playing Some Karters online but I'm down to play both CTR Online and Nitro Fueled on the Switch, give me a (You) if you join either one and I'll hop on.

It's really good in my opinion. The driving feels very close to CTR NF with its own little twist and adjustments like not outrige taking all your reserves if you hit a wall but still penalizing you for doing so, the HP system lets you basically tank 3 items before you spinout, so it's very veteran-oriented.

Mods as you can see give it a ton of replayability too. I believe they launched it as early access not too long ago and there's like 2000 different mods

People need to have it downloaded to see it, I believe custom tracks are automatically downloaded when chosen in a lobby, but characters and vehicles need to be subscribed manually

The right button on my 10 year old controller started failing and not staying pressed

One of these days I'll join these lobbies if I catch them in time. I loved CTR but I'm rusted as fuck and nitro fueled did a number on my muscle memory. Still good enough to turn on a fresh save, go on roo's tubes and slam dunk on tropy and oxide first try. But I'm sure I'm dogshit compared to actual good players, never could consistently pull off the hardest blizzard bluff shortcuts (not that I attempted learning either, just vibed with the game)

There's no actual speed hard limit.
For example in CTR OG even if you are running around with really charged USF you are still going to hit a speed hard cap you can't get over no matter how much you boost.
In that game there's no such cap, there is a soft cap yes, but the more USF you stack the faster you go with no limit to this stacking.
This sounds fun at first glance (and it is solo on time trials) but as an actual multiplayer game it turns into a mess where the instant you make a single mistake you are no longer going to catch up and you can only hope the first place fucks up.

To be fair, you can catch up to a leading player by doing better, riskier racing lines, which is the actually fun part of racing.
I used to play Nitro Fueled a lot and could catch up to players after fucking up early but only by taking the absolute best possible corners and minimizing wasted time everywhere I could. To me CTR, and probably the Karters too are fun because they are racing focused, I didn't use items when playing CTR NF because racing itself was fun, and finding a fellow player race head to head that also didn't felt like using items was one of the funnest gaming moments I've ever had

I can see you have never had to play against someone actually, truly, good with no rubberbanding or items that would help you like on NF.
You don't get to do shit with "riskier better racing lines" when said player is already doing those by default, all you're doing is poorly imitating them praying they fuck up and let you overtake them, point which you get fucked by a missile or a bomb the nanosecond you do it and they overtake you again anyway.

Just in case you are not familiar, if you press DOWN + BRAKE you will be able to take super sharp turns, normally this takes out your reserves but in this mode it doesn't so you can control your kart better.

The triple-boost and its timing? You probably know already but if you look at your exhaust while you drift it'll go from white to black then white again for a very brief moment, that's when the boost window runs out, but the closer you hit the boost to that 2nd white smoke, you will get massive reserves to keep top speed.
