The game peaked at BBI it boggles my mind that they didn’t have it as a baseline for 2.

In 10 years they'll release a "definitive" version that only runs better because the hardware can brute force it now and no other changes

Which is a shame. Both games have a very unique style and atmosphere to them, and while the sequel somehow managed to be just as janky and incomplete as the first game, just in slightly different ways, I still enjoyed it. Hell, give me a third one that's janky and incomplete in exciting and fresh ways, and I'll probably still have fun with it. Obviously I'd prefer an actually complete experience, but I'll take what I can get.

I didn't even finish it. Unless someone mods lolis back in and they basically remake the entire game with a DLC I'll never reinstall it.

It deserves to die after that half-baked turd we got. What a fucking disappointment, you have years to take a look at what worked, what didn't, and what can be added/changed and instead you just make the same janky game and it doesn't even feature anything like the best part of the original.

I'll probably catch some flack for that, butI'm rather satisfied of the direction taken by two, on some respects.
Always felt to me like there was two game in Dragon's Dogma: the early game, in which your characters were weak, vulnerable, very much tied to the physicality of the systems, and which was exploration based. And then the end game, in which your characters were powerful, able to ignore subsystems that botherd the player, and which focused on combat and gear/stats.
The early game was fucked up by level-up refilling stamina/HP.
DD2 tried to expend on that early game, and as someone that wanted it, I was happy with the game despite other disappointments.
Your mileage may vary.

Just did a run through DDDA and then DD2, finished it yesterday, more thorough run than I did at release. Was fun. Wished there was more, wish Unmoored World had more to it. Had fun with what it was, but left the same taste as DD1 base game, could have been amazing with more content.

It's insane. How did they manage it? They knew everything missing from DD1 and still managed to fuck it up AGAIN

I don't know why you'd say that, I'm sure in 10-14 years they'll shit out Dragon's Dogma 3 and it'll be the worst of the bunch.

Never got why BBI was so highly praised. You go through a bunch of repetitive corridors and recycled interiors for a few hours, then it's just nothing but your pic in front of about 4 chests after the initial run for some hideous armour with a broken RNG ability.

DD2 sold pretty well so I think they will give it another shot in the future. Itsuno will never be let anywhere near it again though, they will give it to somebody else to make an actual sequel instead of whatever the hell DD2 ended up becoming.

It was a classic D&D dungeon dive at it's core. But yeah the end result was just RNG loot rewards, but I guess that kept the replay value going.
