what went wrong?
why does microsoft continue to allow a bunch of talentless idiots to run the warcraft IP into the ground? How much longer until the entire warcraft team is purged?

From a development standpoint the game and IP of Warcraft is a sunken ship, however from a sales standpoint the game is an immense whale. A core part of the audience is now old people that don't have time to play more than a few times a week and want to play the same character they've had since they were young.
This means unfortunately they can do fuck all with it, lots of players don't even read lore or watch cutscenes its just pretty visuals going on around them as they quest and dungeon. The best thing that could happen for the franchise is for it to eventually fad into such irrelevancy they could launch a WoW2 without rocking the boat.
