PC Games that you can't get on Steam.

I installed the Gold version recently from GoG but the NPCs just keeps ignoring the bad guys as in sometimes they are literally right on their faces and they just stand there and takes bullets.
Did GoG do something or was the game always like this? I remember playing the original version before the expansion and it was better than this or maybe I am remembering wrong.

Very weird and unfortunate. I don't have anything against GOG it's just unfortunate I can't buy it on steam.

I played it with my friends way, way back when it first dropped and was still kind of edgy. It was OK but the aimbot enemies sucked a lot of the fun out of it. We just went back to SWAT.

It was always like that, friendlies are constrained by the same mechanical rules as a player and won't fire until their crosshairs have reset, suspects have their own entirely different animation system and can 180 and let it rip on a dime.

Mods like SSF and EF fix this.

I do like RoN but I've only played with my friends, I imagine solo or pubs would be less fun. I also really hate that they censored it but I've already paid and played for hours so there's no refunding happening. When we get tired of RoN maybe I'll try to get the bros into SWAT4 since none of us have played it so we don't know what we're missing.

I like it but it's definitely inferior to SWAT 4, especially with SEF, and the recent debacle makes it hard to recommend. SWAT4's good enough that a modern game copying it's homework a bit poorly is still a fine game though.

All that matters is it's a game people care about, you can go crazy with exclusives but if they aren't what people want they just don't care. But frankly it's more complicated problem then people seem to think.

I can imagine because of EGS's bad rep (for various reasons, whether they deserve all the hate or not), that interest in / caring about the game drops significantly if it doesn't come to Steam. Interest becomes disinterest.

It also didn't help that a good chunk of them turned out to be really mediocre or just bad.
The state of the store, how slow they were to actually improve it and their aggressive approach wasn't winning them any favors.
Also didn't help that the big streamer games and FOTM titles ended up being on Steam and not Epic didn't improve things, but that's a bit more of a muddled point supporting other points.

I think it's more the fact that most EGS exclusive games are shit. If it's a high profile game people will play it regardless, even if it won't sell as much as on Steam. Look at Alan Wake 2. Everyone lapped that shit up and those who didn't wouldn't have bought it even if it was on steam anyways. And in a broader sense there's Nintendo and PS exclusives that do well like Ghost of Tsushima and Mario/Zelda.
