They were sitting on their golden goose that everyone was craving since the PS3 for over a decade, then once XV cost them billions only to make back millions, it was time to break the glass, but they were filled with greed, certain that the coveted FFVII remake would make infinite money, so they changed it to milk the ever loving fuck out of it, and it completely failed to pay off. Sure part 1 did great, we were all fooled by the ruse, but the cat was out of the bag by time part 2 rolled around, and as a result it sold so embarrassingly bad compared to part 1 that Square doesn't even want to release the numbers.

Remake has the best or one of the best combat systems in the series. Atb just doesn't work very well with turn based, and ffx offers way too much flexibility without real consequences even though it's true turn based, which makes the combat kinda redundant. I had way more fun playing hard mode on both Remake and Rebirth than i had playing ffx. If these games were trpg's like tactics, i'd be fine with that too, that's the good type of turn based
