Antarctica has next to nothing in it and tons of space. I think people are just so concerned about drawing in the places they're from or have some sort of significance to get the most eyes on it, but the thing artists should actually be doing is going to the bottom of the map and using that big white expanse to make art. I think the site going viral is attracting all of the 12 year old edgelords that want to destroy things simply because they think its funny. I saw some pixel art of a favorite character of mine that got griefed by multiple people for no reason that I could discern. It's stupid but it's the reality of multiplayer things that are really popular and hit the mainstream.
