>finally get into danganronpa a couple years late to the party
>finish danganronpa 1 and like it
>finish 2 and its a fucking a masterpiece
>finally play V3
>game director commentary: "Fuck you for liking these kind of games. As the player, you are the one causing the characters' deaths. By playing this game you are making fiction real. Your fascination with their gruesome murder is reprehensible. Fuck you."

Wait wut?
WHAT????
Not even Kojima is this pretentious. What the fuck is wrong with this Kodaka?

Assuming you actually played them, your opinion is valid. However;

They didn't say that + you missed the point + >pretentious

Try contributing to the world in such an artistic way as kodaka has. The point of V3 is about as "fuck yeah video games and fiction!" as you can get.

(I am leaving the thread after posting this so don't @ me)

You interpreted it that way.

The truth is that Kodaka was absolutely filtered by the anime. He hated the anime so much he immediately decided to kill the series and stay away from it for a decade. The animator responsible for the anime was removed from the team immediately upon its finishing and it's why he immediately tried to go onto other IPs after V3. It's only recently he's gotten nostalgic for Danganronpa again after his gigantic hateboner for everything to do with that animator has died down a bit. Most people did interpret the V3 ending as a fuck you to the fans, and it's somewhat easy to see it that way, but his intent was a fuck you to that animator and the anime specifically.

Have you spoken to kodaka ? Did he say this ? Did any of this even happen ? I refuse to believe he would spend years of his life working on a game purely for this tangential and spiteful reason.

To me it just seemed like he wanted to send a strong message about engaging with fiction sincerely.

OP your distaste of V3's poorly written meta-commentary is perfectly valid. Unfortunately the Danganronpa fanbase on /v/ is mentally ill and a lot of them have gaslit themselves into believing that V3's ending wasn't saying the very obvious things it was saying and if you criticize anything about it "you just didn't get it".

>"You are the one causing these character's deaths"
But the characters all knew what they were signing up for and did it intentionally with the express intent of murdering and getting away with it, they're far more complicit in the murders than the audience. They're never presented as innocent lambs or victims, which is why they collectively decide that dying at the end as a gotcha is perfectly fine, as much to their previous selves as the showrunners.

I would say it's amazing that people still don't get V3's ending, but I also highly doubt anyone is still "getting into Danganronpa" 8 years after it ended and a decade after it stopped being relevant.
That and /v/ has a schizophrenic who got so mindbroken by V3 that they show up in every Kodaka game thread to spam links to WEGs and moan about how Kodaka needs to be cancelled so he'll make DR4, so most of these threads are made by him.

Assuming you aren't that person though, it should be fairly obvious that that is not what the ending is saying at all. If you take the analogue that far, then you have to recognize that Tsumugi is a reflection of the game writers and creators, and her character, in effect, states:
>None of these stories matter
>Who cares if it's hacky writing, it's what people expect
>The audience will eat this shit up anyways so who cares
>Look, Ultimate Hope Robot versus Ultimate Despair Headmaster, isn't this cool??
And then you, the player, say "No that sucks" and the creators of Danganronpa literally die.

The biggest sign that it isn't spiteful is Salmon Team, a game mode that describes itself as what the audience rejected Danganronpa for- which is a new fiction wherein the characters are all friends and have a good time together.

He didn't WANT to make these games anymore so he had to make sure it ended with V3.
Unfortunately he wasn't as talented as he thought and it turned out this series was the peak of his career.

Itโ€™s crazy because itโ€™s such a silly and unpretentious series. Kodakaโ€™s talked about how the games are just supposed to be entertaining. But he does a weird postmodern twist once and thatโ€™s too much all of a sudden for the cartoonish series where a teen model destroys society.

Personally I do feel like they say that, but the point is inmediately torn down by Shuichi. Tsumugi's deal is that, paradoxically, fiction means jack shit but needs to keep being produced no matter what, while Shuichi puts value over fiction and in quality over quantity. Fiction can change your life for the better, but you need to move on to new things eventually.
Tsumugi is the literal definitio of JUST CONSOOOOOOM

Hundred Line is far superior to Danganronpa.

If kodaka saw you post this he would probably laugh. Not because it is true/false, but because its childishly reductive. Hundred Line released after danganronpa and benefited from all those years of experience him and his team built up. Its also a very different type of game.

>I predicted le ebin twist from just the demo
You predicted the surface level twist that is acknowledged in the very first of scenarios, yes.
The rest of your post ranges from seething at things that show you're far too forgiving on Danganronpa, or outright seething that it isn't Danganronpa.
Also,
>>made Uchikoshi waste several years writing the mediocre staple-on space bug plot instead of making his own game with his own setting
He literally released a game only a month after Hundred Line came out retard.

Anyone who wanted more fucking Uchikoshi should not be trusted on the writing quality of ANYTHING.
That man has literally not released a single good game. People act like ZTD was a big betrayal, but if you remove 999 from its DS nostalgia goggles, and VLR from its 3DS ones, you'd quickly realize he was the biggest hack at the fucking company.
Had the DS gotten a VN market that went beyond just 999 and Ace Attorney outside Japan, nobody would give a shit about Uchikoshi.

Way to out yourself, no one coming into this series fresh is going to get this retard perspective out of the game, this is literally just a meme of its time.
