It's a fun as fuck monster battle game, that's what it does right.

Too bad the Nahabino meter is a little poorly implemented. I hope they make some changes to it in the next SMT game or scrap it altogether.

V was already good and they made it better.
The weakness of V was the plot and characters and Vengenace makes those better, while preserving the original as an alternate route

The team building falls apart hard after level 40 or so, there's too many skills that auto crit pierce generate turns and all sorts of other crazy shit. On top of that the game showers you with free powerups for your team so you can just keep one set of pokemons the whole game.
Power creep has went too far.

Personally I don't think there's any reason to. It's less like an "alternate route" and more like canon of creation barely has a story while canon of vengeance has more of a story. Some of the original route content is also in the vengeance route.

having played both, imo doing Creation second is better because you can blitz through it with NG+ carryovers if you want.
Alternatively, you can do Creation first and experience the game like people who originally played it, saving Vengeance for second. I guess either way is fine

If you're only playing the game through once then play Vengeance.

The original route does have some unique bosses including its own unique super boss, Masakados. If you're interested in more V I'd go through it, VV answers a lot of questions that V had but it also glosses over a lot of elements explained on the original route. Like for instance Dazai and Abdiel have way more character development on the original route.

If you're only gonna do one route though, Vengeance is better.

I think I made a mistake by doing Canon of Creation first because holy shit I don't give a fuck about any of the characters.
But it's too late to turn back now since I'm apparently at the final area.
Probably gonna do Vengeance in a year or so.

Yeaaah this is why I recommended that guy Vengeance first. doing creation first makes sense on paper but it's just not as good so you end up dropping the game for a year and forgetting anyway.

There's a silver lining. CoV is written as if you played CoC first. There's a lot of fakeout moments where unexpected shit happens but you wouldn't know if you didn't play the original storyline first. As long as you don't spoil yourself you'll be in for a good time.

If you don't give a shit about them in CoC there is a high chance you won't care in CoV either. Only major changes are Tao, Yoko, and Koshimizu. But Tao is still a nice girl, which balances out Yoko's edge shit because they spend 80% of of their screen time interacting with each other while you watch their conversations. Koshimizu probably gets the most character development out of everyone. I'm still pissed Aogami finally realizes he's Susano-o and has his big hero moment saving you from a multi-headed snake only for the game to end and he has nothing else to say about it

Yeah it's not a mistake. CoV is much better with context of CoC. It's a good idea to pause between playthrough. Don't do CoV in NG+, NG+ in these games is kind of sloppy and removes all tension.

I mean they didn't even explain what the whole Matter Goddess thing is about. I know Atlus West just cut it out of the english version entirely but Yoko dropped she was a goddess of matter out of no where in the Japanese version with no explanation. Lucifer also has the same race name. I thought the point of CoV was to explain open ended shit from the original, not drop more open ended shit with no explanation.
