Who knows? I don't even know what Final Fantasy is anymore. Modern Square Enix just lacks the imagination to make a Final Fantasy on par with the classics. Best thing they could do is give it to one of their D-teams like the Octopath guys.

Why do zoomers always just make shit up? I first played FFVI in 1994 and Terra/Celes were always thought to be the main characters. The only time I've ever heard people thinking Locke is the main character is only in the last year or two here on /v/.

i think they need to do a non-numbered title and make a monster hunter-like while capcom is fumbling the bag. square enix could legit do something cool with the format and it could help solve their inability to come up with a good "loopy" game design they've been wrestling with since ff15

At first I thought that sounded retarded but a bunch of the weapons, jobs, abilities, and monsters from the FF series would probably fit right in to MH-like gameplay. Although, given how (not very) well the FF teams have dealt with action combat so far I'm not sure if I'd trust them to pull it off well enough to be an actual contender.

Barely anyone questioned it when Terra was chosen as the VI hero for Dissidia. That was 17 years ago. She's always been the poster girl for the game.

Final Fantasy Explorers was supposed to be a Monster Hunter-like. I never played it but I heard it was alright. It was a 3DS exclusive that came out when 3DS MonHuns were dominating the entire genre, though, so they struck when the competition was at its fiercest and probably won't strike now that they could actually get a good spot in the market.

This is what's killing this franchise (and mostly every other single player game). Seeing XVI I was like "combo based game ? Okay why not ?" And then the demo was just almost nothing but cut-scene and talking/walking segment, killing the pacing, everything I hated in Remake.

I think the flaws with 15,16, and SoP they’ve been targeting older demographics, their lapsed audience. However should feel youthful, naive even about the world of adults. Final Fantasy XVII should try to appeal to my fantasies, but to those kids on Roblox’s fantasies.
