If it had a completely new over world and more interestingly themed dungeons with lore in them, it would be better.
Instead, only the Wind Temple really felt like a proper attempt that fitted the game, even then it was kinda empty.
The biggest was a fairly empty world, combat kinda being meh and enemies being very repetitive and not enough types of enemies (OoT has more than this game ffs).
It also feels clean and safe, common with AAA nowadays. OoT and MM were pretty dark compared to this game. TP was going to be dark but they nerfed that for classification reasons (essentially, it was gonna look more like Dark Souls 3 with enemies back before Demon Souls was a thing). Shame.
So now Zelda is just mario with a sword.
BUT, the construction mechanics in TotK were very good. If anything it should be expanded, but Nintendo are shy of breaking the game with bugs nowadays because of laws I guess (lawyers must harass them for bullshit reasons nowadays).
I also wanted more meaningful npcs instead of npcs without character. They're sorta just there and have maybe 1 or 2 traits to them. Otherwise they are copy pasted npcs.
There's also next to no plot other than ambient narrative (which Elden Ring proved they didn't do good enough with even that style of narrative writing). Memories sucked ass, I don't think even casuals new to the series liked them.
