I wish these two actually did anything. It's been all side characters for a good while now. Even when they had the whole dungeon to themselves it was all about the monsters.

Picrel, it's a fantasy comedy about childhood friends who meet up daily, with the caveat being that the boy is an adventuerer who has to go through an entire dungeon every time they want to meet, because the girl is the dragon raid boss at the end of it.
It's light-hearted, but can be very entertaining at times because there's a supporting cast of monsters who obsess over their relationship and come up with plans to push them closer together while projecting their own weird vices and perversions onto them. It also has a lot of meta jokes about anime and fandom tropes and the author even makes fun of the AoT Eren Yaeger "I DON'T WANT THAT" scene.

You need to stop thinking in defined movements towards an end goal. The whole appeal is that they are just hanging out, doing nothing-things like napping or reading while sitting close to each other. They are completely comfortable being around each other, it's as natural as breathing air to them. The appeal of childhood friends is the complete lack of any barrier between the two of them, and that - in its own mundane way - is hot.
