I have. 1 AND 2. Loved both. Did multiple playthroughs, but I always get burnt out by NG+4. That's why I like that SoP basically dumps its endless dungeon crawl level by NG+3. I don't think I'll ever get to floor 999 in either Nioh. I'm already burning out on SoP Floor 90.

I played it recently, it was fine. But I don't like games that rely on NG+ so much and everything but the combat was rather forgettable. I should play 2.

I agree that Team Ninja likes to hide important mechanics several NG+s deep. Sometimes they can have profound effects on playstyle. The Niohs are my go-to series grinding out a show or Yotube on my second screen. The games require JUST enough mechanical difficulty to be engaging while letting you tune everything else out. Like you said, the rest if forgettable, however, I always like how distinct the locales look and feel.

Nioh 2 also has one of the better character creator's I've seen. I can finally use transmog along with a female model. The only downside if your Yokai will always get double-Ds.

I just reached the poison dungeon again and noped out of the game.
Nioh has great dungeons, but a poison dungeon followed by a shit dungeon (literally)? No way.

I can see why it hooks people up, but I don't really see any merit in watching the green number going up and enemies getting permabuffs. Nioh would be much better with more enemy variety or even a mission creation mode.

My main gripes:
- Kusarigama yokai
- Namahage (DLC enemy with two cleavers)
- double boss fights in side missions

I think difficulty on Nioh 1 only becomes bullshit in the DLCs. It basically funnels you into areas from the next difficulty level. The Namahage is one of the worst enemies because it has variable combos that go on forever. Let me attack, you little shit!

They also make you fight Sanada Yukimura and his ten braves not once, but twice!
Anonymous No.718226508
>>718226380
So a problem with Nioh 1 is that the DLC released after a good number of players where already well into NG+ runs. So they really bumped the difficulty of the DLC missions in the first NG. You're actually supposed to go straight into NG+ after beating the main story and go back to NG DLC levels after you've done a fair bit.

>>718226387
PC player, so I'll take your word. But Nioh 1 looked on par with MGSV graphics, so that's why I made the comparison.

I finished and greatly enjoyed both, really good games. Unfortunately I got burned out by the end and couldn't be bothered with the endgame gear grind for NGs, but I think I will eventually finish the DLCs once I'm in the mood. Are there any guides for the easiest, most cheese endgame builds? Maybe something like mage or anything with dual swords since they were my favorite.

Nioh 1 feels much harder with the lack of easy to abuse animation cancels that Nioh 2 are filled with. Namahage isn't even the hardest of the basic yokai, but Nioh 1 also has no where near the amount of enemy variety to see the more bullshit fuckers like Yasha or big bird and his exploding dark realms.

My issue with Namahage is all the bullshit combos without stopping. And the DLCs take place in corridors or enclosed areas, and there's a very good chance he'll just do the spinning move to fuck you up.

There' a courtyard in the final level of the final DLC that has:
- 2 Magatsu Warriors
- Yoki with huge gun
- Namahage
- plus Kusarigama Yoki around the corner

I don't even want to know what kind of bullshit they pull in later difficulties. I just don't. Don't tell me.

Not to its detriment, but Wo Long feels way easier than Nioh. Even against bosses you're not getting killed in two-attacks like in Nioh. It also feels pretty bland, but maybe because I just played Dynasty Warriors and knew every enemy from there.

I do hope no weapons are locked to be used exclusively in Ninja stance, I'm really not into the truncated moveset. IIRC the titles in the alpha hinted at being able to unlock 2kat for both, so I'm hopeful.

>>718227528
I personally couldn't get into it but do give it a shot. It's more centered about parrying and there's a posture system, so it can feel reminiscent of Sekiro, but for me the greatly reduced movesets were a dealbreaker

flow of the game is completely different
I personally really hate the dumb spirit bar you're constantly paying a stamina tax, you're forced to deflect everything to build it, buffs and debuffs last like 5 seconds and you are at a meter defecit 80% of the time so the idea of using multiple tools in your it just goes out the window, it has like 10 weapons and none of them ever feel different from each other.
It's not bad but personally I couldn't stomach finishing the game.
The game also ends really early into Three Kingdoms from what I understand, we don't see any of the big moments... This is a Three Kingdoms game that doesn't even feature Red Cliffs or other iconic moments it would be like if the Nioh games skipped Sekigahara instead of revolving an entire game around it.

if the loot was one of your favorite parts you'll be disappointed by this game the most.
as someone who played WL, SoP, and RoR all day 1 I really say none of the three were worth it all of them felt inferior to Nioh 2 the only thing I got out of it was during the Nioh 3 alpha I could tell what they carried over from those games and that it was necessary homework to get Nioh 3 so fucking right.

I finished the main story in Nioh 1 a few years ago and went back to finish DLCs recently.
You have to play through some NG+ missions to get better equipment and soul match to stand a chance in DLCs and even then some bosses are crazy. I had to often find a way to cheese them.

>Maria
I barely did any damage to her so the fights took forever and I always died but suprisingly high stance heavy katana attack after dodging her dealt some good damage. I never use this for bosses that move so quick but worked for her.

>Sanada Yukimura
I would never beat him if not for cheesing him with stairs.
>go on that stairs platform thing
>wait for him to start running on the stairs too
>drop from the platform
>heavy odachi or axe him during his fall animation
>repeat for 10 minutes and hope that he doesn't transform into his air form too often

>Sanada Yukimura + Sarutobi Sasuke
I used living weapon, I try to never use it because for normal enemies it's like cheating and for bosses it sucks because it lasts only a few seconds so if they dodge I can't even reach them in time but by some miracle it worked for him and I beaten him to death before sasuke spawned

sloth is useful for some bosses like masamune but like someone said I think they nerfed it for dlcs because it lasts a few seconds

I think Shigezane is my favourite from DLC, feels the most fair.

Some skills are way too good for how little ki they cost. That spear skill that lets you run while twirling the spear around, or the double katana skill that basically shreds any giant enemy cost less than 3 dodges each.

Yukimura was pretty easy. If he is going to do the slam, just unlock and run.
Maria is truly special if you don't cheese with the headshot trick. In NG+, she goes into her power up mode right at the start. Her power up mode is straight up broken because it makes her very difficult to stagger but also Regen stamina very quickly (unlike enemies in living weapon where their stamina ticks down automatically). That combined with her very fast move set and instant kill grab
