Age makes little difference in these games anyway. Both Hitomi and Boss are in their mid-40s but look a decade younger. Likewise Date is fit for his age.

Yeah that’s the core problem-it's not a “day one” game, it’s a “maybe one day” game. They market it to VN fans but offer mid writing and even more mid gameplay. Unless it drops a killer twist that everyone’s talking about, it just fades into backlog hell.

It is a spin-off of an already niche series where it didn't really add much to it and even the game knows it. At most you got some extra details about pewter and how he got out of jail time after what happend in the first game and a few other small things.
So unless you wanted to see more character interactions (which also feel muted compared to the first game) or do the puzzles then there is no incentive to bother with it at the full price.

Short and a spin off.
The plot is palatable, but clearly they just bundled crap together.

But, I did like the puzzles. Next game should just return to puzzles if they can't be fucked with the narrative. I still think 999 is their best shit and the Zero series games are still good because of their puzzles.

It seemed pretty good until it becomes obvious they simply gave up on the game... sigh.
You can just tell because Akemi's character becomes a complete mess in the 2nd half and she feels completely unfinished.

She shouldn't have been just an AI version of a comatosed character, she should have gained sentience and become more monstrous than she did. There's one moment where I thought she would just straight up admit she no longer cared about Hina or the person she was copied from and that she would start to think more like a maniacal omniscient machine like SHODAN... but that never happens and she just becomes another lobotomised AI like Aiba and Tama. I wish they completely dehumanised her character.

The reuse of assets.. was kinda lame. The puzzles were genuinely fun though. A lot more fair than Zero-escape's. Only one puzzle (the fridge) I had issues with and it was because I put in the wrong thing by accident. Normally the puzzles are far too obtuse to understand. These ones are hard, but the clues are there and it feels more like you failed the puzzle when you didn't get them rather than the game just being an asshole with tangential problem solving (VLR was the worst with this).

Honestly a lot better than VLR/ZTD's at times.
I thought they were well done because they had narrative motifs and callbacks too. VLR/ZTD's tend to be more liminal but also nonsensical with problem solving.

Uchikoshi slop is the type of game you play once, and drop 60% of the way through after realizing it's garbage, Then a couple years later you forget all about it since it was so forgettable.

A few years later after you've memory holed it, you try another game by him on a whim.
You proceed to get 60% of the way through then realize it's the same garbage tropes and twists he put into his previous game, which you just remembered by association. So you drop the Uchikoshi slop yet again, repeat ad infinitum.

100 Line was back in April, Uchikoshi's fanbase of retards are still in the "fuck that last game was garbage" phase, and haven't forgotten it yet.
They aren't going to buy a new title from him until his unmemorable garbage is forgotten in a couple years.
They thought since 100L had Kodaka's involvement it would be less shit this time, alas the Uchikoshi taint was too strong.

100L was mainly Kodaka, Uchi was just involved with the split timelines because that's his thing.
Which is why 100L is almost as bad as Danganronpa 1, which I also dropped.

I haven't dropped a single Uchi game yet. AI2 was the closest when it started to do some bullshit. This game never got long enough to have that problem and had some neat puzzles.

100 Line though, well when I realised that the split timelines were going to be ASS to fine (because of the battles never getting any new mechanics and the weak endings), never got past much more than the first playthrough (because fuck that).

I just wish there was more puzzles, the more ridiculous the better. They arguably saved this game for me, but there weren't enough. They should also have something more akin to Ace Attorney's investigations with collecting facts/objects in the "overworld" to apply them for certain puzzles. That way the overworld shit doesn't just feel like a mere VN with the same old jokes again and again (which they did to absurdity this time and actually felt kinda shit for once - I'm shocked that his shitty jokes would actually feel too repetitive for once, I thought I could take it kek).

>The problem is core to the game itself, where every aspect of the game is agressively tedious and not streamlined like a regular VN
But the streamlining became a problem for me. Not the lack of. You have no real complex strats to choose from in the RTS battles and the overworld exploration is just rolling dice/snakes and ladders and kinda blah.

When I think of multiple ending games that were done half well (because I don't think a single one has been done 100% well at all) I think of Fallout NV and things like that. You have all sorts of bullshit you can do to produce endings rather than just mere branched flags with dialogue choices. Things like killing enemies on the battlefield, not keeping your HP up enough for a character, ignoring a character too much for too long, being mean to them, using certain moves too many times or not enough, not finding a character's diary in a specific area, shooting too many seagulls on the shell platform, committing to the genocide of all demons, not committing to the genocide of all demons, failing to fill in your tax form on time, too high cholesterol, shit like that.

Plus they were dickriding police enforcement unironic in some comments. I actually was a little bit pissed off at them at the peak of lockdowns where I live.

But the twist was also kinda meh and I guess the reuse of assets burnt people off too.
There were a lot of mistakes made.
>reused jokes

This was an issue with ZTD too. I disliked them bringing back old characters. But they made up for it by making it a bit more violent for me.
But perhaps some players disliked the violence?
Or maybe the conspiracies? People just disliked the conspiracy shit? I doubt that though, the conspiracy shit is why I was attracted to the series. It was entertaining.

But I guess it wasn't funny in 2022 after what happened. In fact it was too uncanny to the reality of the world around them.
