Are there going to be alternate solar systems included in the base game or is it only going to be our solar system?
Part of what I liked about KSP and its outer planets mod was having a bunch of planets that were analogous to ours but also different enough to be interesting. I would love for there to be a solar system with more moons and planets like Eve, Laythe, Tekto, and Minmus

I'm not sure. The main problem with KSP interstellar mods is that everything had to be modeled as one big solar system, even in RSS. If they can crack that limitation it would open it up a lot.

apparently it's just a placeholder for an eventual custom system, though it'd be fucking retarded to just throw it out so maybe we'll get both

actually the more i look, the more i see their attempts at realism as being lame in general
impressionism does a lot in making something interesting, and, as a bonus, is also a lot less work

I'm very interested in its progress, but I probably won't play it as long as it's not as feature complete as ksp1, not mentioning ksp2.
Let's hope the team is playing the long game.
As glad as I am that they plan on providing the game completely for free, I also think that's going to potentially slow down or stop development since this seems to have a surprisingly large dev team and people need to pay bills or have some incentive to work on the project if they aren't doing it out of passion. Maybe they could just sell it for really cheap, like $5 maybe, or have a DLC or "full version" that people could purchase to get extra content and support the developers.
