It's worse than gambling, you don't even get a financial reward and the game is merely designed to give you gacha awards that will incite you to pay for more gacha awards in the long run. Gambling doesn't have that runaway effect that ensnares players. So it's WORSE than gambling. That's why people are blowing away more dough on it than gambling.
If it was just arcade pay to play, nobody would give a shit. It's the head fucking that goes along with gachas to manip players into continuing financial investment more and more that is the issue. I had this issue, as a kid, with World of Warcraft because I could see how it could spiral into a subscription spiral. I hate subscriptions and subsidiary subscriptions. The worst is the Law and Property industry with this shit. It just becomes a rabbit hole of financial handshakes and only the biggest whales ever reach the end. Fuck that shit.
Products should be a one off and that's it. Engagement over. If a sequel happens it should be stand-alone.
I don't even like DLC, Paradox Interactive is the worst for that shit. I even felt angry as a kid having to by the Rise of Rome expansion for Age of Empires. I still kinda hate that. I hate premium subscriptions that make the entry subscription just mere bait. Fuck that. I hate that in capitalism in general. It's why I buy fucking nothing nowadays, it pisses me off that much that I fail to enjoy content I paid a premium for. Some people have sunk cost mentality, I have the opposite. Whenever I pay for things in general, the extra payment makes me already hate it. I do not get why marketers condone this shit when it just leads to catering to whale marketing and eventually the collapse of their demand pool and corporation. You should treat demand like crops, make them healthier to, not just one time harvest the small shit and then suckle on the teat of a dying group of whales. That is poor economics.
