yea, absolutely true, it did have some decent games that have almost no notoriety, but a good 90% of the catalogue is just completely worthless, some unplayably bad but most just boring
and playing games off umd was terrible, if you weren't running cfw everything up until 2008 was just terrible to play due to insane load times, and even after data install became a thing, most games still didn't have it because why the fuck would you when the standard memstick sizes are 32mb and you have to pay out the dick for a decent sized one
people that were modding their systems and using 3rd party memory cards were getting so much better of an experience than people using the real thing lmao, like monster hunter freedom iirc is nearly 40s per zone transition and it goes down to like 3s off a stick
the system really shines with emus though, as a nes/snes/gameboy/gameboy advance emulator it was my favorite system basically of all time, the form factor and ease of use was perfect
