I have never seen anyone find the scenes with these "characters" funny, they only support their inclusion because it's "offensive".
It's not like we're dealing with a character who has a lot of personality and depth and just so happens to have a "problematic" element, these characters exist solely to be annoying stereotypes.
This is a purely armchair fake discourse, no substance to it whatsoever, just a way for pseuds to pretend to have principles to counteract their real-world hypocrisies.

both P4 and P5 made the same mistake that they didn't make in P3...

when the party members grow in terms of resolve and personality with the main plot, it ties everything together. when Junpei tells everyone about his alcoholic dad, it's when they are at a point of complete hopelessness and fear in the main story... if P3 were rewritten today, he would make some dumb jokes and act like he did on the first day of school (P3P already moved this scene from a main plot event to his SL...).
