Umineko
A certain streamer is having their final Umineko stream so this might be a good way to keep an Umineko alive.

DSP is streaming Umineko (with original sprites and art because he's based); he solved it halfway through Episode 1, recognized it was shit, and then uninstalled it.

Chat spammed him with "subtle" spoilers, didn't they

I can't tell if I'm supposed to keep playing along or if you're actually just retarded.

It's an e-celeb gossip general, of course it's the latter.

How are readers able to be so unbothered by the shift in genre, to the point that they attack others for saying that they don't like Umineko for the shit in tone and theme? As I see it, the shift away from the mystery doesn't even make sense in the context of the latter part of the story because there would be no need for a mystery in that context, and definitely not such a complex one.

>a decent amount of people will now say that they've experienced umineko because they watched some "i'm not a weeb" streamer read through it with his "i'm absolutely a weeb" friends/discord gf
i'm sure all of chat were giddy to pull up wiki pages, read ahead for what to expect, and then react appropriately. and this isn't some "umineko is totally niche" callout post because it isn't, i just can't imagine watching someone REACT to the entirety of umineko that isn't yourself, VA'd or not. it'd be like having some dude on audiobook pausing to tell you just how good or how cringe a moment is before continuing

I have a bigger issue with his community; the people wanting him to read it are the same ones that are saying that Umineko is the best piece of literature ever or that it changed their lives. Who the fuck are these people? WHAT are they? Unreal.

No, it's not. Why would someone make such a strong claim about a piece of media they did not consume? I know a few people that have Umineko as their favourite story ever so it's not outlandish to believe others feeling that way.

Umineko's "genre shift" occurs at the end of Episode 1. If you ignore that though, it occurs throughout Episode 2.

Oh, what genre shift is that, then? Questions arc is about mystery with some story elements. Answers arc is about the story with some mystery elements, where the mystery doesn't really matter, especially those that occured in the questions arc.

I'd say the shift occurs when it explicitly becomes about magical witches fighting with magical powers actually.
If you failed to tune out the mystery aspects by the time Episode 4 inundated you with 20 hours of boring backstory on an irrelevant character decades later and on the opposite end of the country, I don't really know what to tell you.
That and the mystery is completely resolved in Episode 5.

Yep, I can tell I'm talking to a true Umineko fan; that post is extremely haughty.
>I'd say the shift occurs when
A shift still occurs, not everyone likes the bait-and-switch.
>If you failed
The story can't fail, it must be people that are negative/critical.
>the mystery is completely resolved in Episode 5
Ah, that's why the story continues and some people still don't have answers after episode 8, prompting a manga? I'm sure you figured it all out before leaving the airport during episode 1 because of how smart you are and by noticing all the nuanced details and foreshadowing.

>Ah, that's why the story continues and some people still don't have answers after episode 8
That doesn't really matter.
The central murder mystery ends in Episode 5. You should know who committed the murders and why by that point, and the mechanics of said mystery are laid bare.
All the Episode 8 manga adds is directly explaining to incredibly dull people how the mechanisms behind each individual murder occurred, when the answers had already been given, just in less direct ways.

Honestly, it's pretty funny how you immediately latch onto me being an Umineko fan when I honestly don't even like it that much. You seem kind of deranged, like you spend most of your time going to and making these threads.

New fans who comes from an e-celeb are always the worst. Especially if that e-celeb fans are mostly outside the circle...
He better not make an "essay" video about it.
