I was talking about the world state and the lore established in 5e. Wyll and Karlach's backstories are strongly tied to Avernus. Without Zariel and Avernus's increased focus on the Blood War, Karlach's backstory doesn't make much sense. Likewise, Wyll's quest culminating in trying to prevent some cult from summoning Tiamat also doesn't work since Avernus's politics weren't as complex in 3.5e.
Similar things could probably be said about changes to Shar, Elminster, Mystra, etc. in 5e, thus also affecting other companions like Gale and Shart

I've had it installed for months and finally started playing it. I discovered I'm total ass at Baldurs Gate. The combat I mean. Like I die in two hits. Which is on par for the classic experience so I really shouldn't complain but here I am doing it anyway.
