What precludes Dragon Quest 3 2D-HD from being a "mainline release"? It involved all three leads, it's a numbered entry, had a four year development time, and probably had MORE backing from Horii than even fucking 11.
This applies to most DQ remakes- they're full games, made under lengthy development timelines with standard budgets with the backing of all normal staff for "mainline titles" but are, for whatever reason, never considered as 'mainline'.

I stated "at best she's been described as X", at best meaning "This is the closest other thing she has been described as", but all of her appearances clearly illustrate her as the Goddess.
In the remakes of DQ1 starting from 1993, Rubiss is described as the creator of the world.
In DQ2, she offers telepathic guidance and literally hands you holy items.
In Dragon Quest Builders she is utilized in the most aggressively on the nose way as THE Goddess of that world, wherein she is constantly in contact with the Builder and assisting him in rebuilding the world.

In addition to all of that, she has a manga coinciding with the release of DQ1&2 for SFC leading up to her CREATING the world of DQ1-3.
There is no grand retconning, this is how she has always been. The only difference is that, unlike the Goddess of DQ4-6, people just use her name.

They didn't, the reality is just that 'God' in DQ is not a singular term only one person can hold.
If we take the connection between the worlds of DQ1-3 and 7 seriously (which we are, the manga which Horii supervised make this connection evident), then that world has two Gods both fulfilling a creator role.
DQ4-6 are a separate world with their own Goddess separate from Rubiss. That's it.

I'm hostile because I don't really like any of you.
But generally, DQ threads for a few years now have been predisposed to being breeding grounds of resentment- not from DQ fans, but fans of other shit. Big one is jaded FF fans mad that their series went to shit, so they latch onto DQ to go "Yeah, I'll be playing this instead" (they never do) and generally pretend that turn based gameplay will save FF (it won't).

Within the past year a significant number of posters in the threads have become people who found out about DQ through the censorship debacle. They've also never played the games, but enjoy dying on the hill for them.

Honestly, I don't really give a shit. DQ is a series I would never want as 'popular' on /v/, so if annoying spergs drive people away, that's fine. The two times DQ got genuinely "popular" here (11 and Smash) were some of the worst times to ever become a DQ fan, so it's for the best that this happens.
That's also probably why no DQ games have had any real interest or discussion. I'm hoping DQXII gets the same muted response that the 3 remake and 1&2 currently seem to be getting.

Nobody has ever finished a fan translation of this manga. The new English release is the only release. Seems they'll be releasing at a rate of 1 volume every 3 months starting September, with each volume containing 1.5 tankobans. The original run was 21 volumes, so you'll be done all of the homework for the Roto Trilogy by December 2028. That is, if they are only doing Dragon Quest Retsuden: Roto no Monshou, but if they continue into the even longer sequel series (that is itself, an interquel between DQ3 and 1), "Monshou wo Tsugu Montachi e", they will be doing another 22 volumes of materials released every three months, which will mean an addition 5.5 years of waiting, and as such, will mean you will need to wait until Summer 2034 before your prerequisites for enjoying the remakes AS HORII INTENDED are ready.

They did that already. It ran for 100 episodes from 2020 to 2022 and is the most consistently good looking longrunning TV anime ever made. They specifically made sure to advertise the fuck out of it on CR, got a deal to have the dub on BBC's iPlayer to indoctrinate the kids, and got it licensed by Netflix after it finished airing (all episodes being simulcasted to CR).

I only played the SNES version. DQ3 is a good example of an RPG with replayability, since you can make several different combinations of parties and try to beat the game with any of them.

The older DQ localizations aren't that great either. They're primarily dry beyond some basic ye olde English (no, I'm not saying they should be pulling a DQ4, but it just feels painfully generic) and no real humour in any of them beyond unintentional bits (like a guy in DQ7 using 'raped' in a classical sense rather than a sexual sense).
I mostly prefer the current localizations when they aren't drowning the text in purple prose or added 'flavour'.

Not exactly. They ported the Feature Phone versions. Full blown remakes for flip phones. 3, while still mechanically a remake, reused most of the graphics and map layouts from the SNES version, but is more of a remake of the Famicom version, missing things like the parchisi tracks, and battle animations.
Those versions were ported up to Smartphones later, and THOSE versions were ported to 3DS, PS4, and Switch, swapping out some sprites, namely monsters and character sprites for high resolution versions that are almost universally agreed upon to look awful, particularly when compared to the rest of each game since they still use those same old 16bit graphics from the original Feature Phone versions.

Based on anons responses I see that they do work, I've just been getting unlucky, then eventually out of frustration I stopped trying. But its early enough that I can keep this in mind going forward and do more research.

I'm actually quite enjoying the game all things considered, and I do have the 'tougher enemies' draco setting active. So I should get into the habit of applying this knowledge now.

Like the biggest damage dealing you can do in DQ11 is Erik with two daggers + Divide (for 3x damage) + Victimizer (6x damage on a poisoned/paralyzed foe) while Oomphed. Just spend your first turn poisoning a boss/setting up Erik and you can do most of a boss' HP in your second all through a simple poisoning.

Since this game is replayable as fuck I highly recommend playing the SNES and GBC versions whenever you can.
