CNS deserved so much better. Way more interesting elements and passion put into it compared to a lot of stuff Nintendo pumps out every year that isn't a major tent pole release. I knew it was dead on arrival when they had to do a majoras mask pin as a preorder bonus for it.

I loved how claustrophobic maps could feel with plenty of choke point areas making you use every bit of cover. I guess Valkyria Chronicles had some of the ideas down, but I really feel like Nintendo were cooking with a unique spin on the genre that just didn't reach its potential.

I actually think the aesthetics were fine, the issue is the models and environments just looked like total shit. If it was on console then I think that alone would have been it look a lot better.

Some people probably still play this but it took way too long to come out and had no content

The aesthetics were too much of a hodgepodge of styles that made it look generic, adding the FE characters as DLC only made it worse by how much they didn't work in the style. It didn't help the game itself is piss ugly, and the gameplay initially was slow as tar and kinda clunky.

I don't likje to use this term, or it lightly, but it really was something made to appeal the "reddit" audience. Something made for the kind of insufferable fuck wits of the era who were "meta" and liked being quirky, the kind that would look at the premise of "omg steampunk public domain characters led by Abe Lincoln fighting aliens?! So freaking epic!!!!!!" \

And I think Nintendo was banking on that, only to fail to realize those kinds of people wouldn't give a shit about TRPG.
