Because most people here aren't that reasonable. I do like E33 and shit on modern FF, but that's mostly because I don't like current FF and want it to be good again. Like, it doesn't need to be turn based or have an overworld in order to be good, but damn, if this one game manages to do it so well with modern graphics, why does square enix struggle so much? And besides that, the game is just brimming with so many of those little things that made SNES-PS1-PS2 era games good (as in not just SE games, but games in general).

I think Rebirth is good enough, has a lot of problems and a lot of positives, a lot of everything period--but if this is going to turn into plebs shitting on the original game to prop up the remakes then I will absolutely skip over this fence and take a big fat dump on Rebirth.

VIIR and R2 are a shapeless amalgam of game design from AAA games that came out during the PS4 era, with a sputtering of concepts from popular movies like Endgame and Spiderverse.
If you've never played FFVII you will be missing context for everything that happens in these games.
If you have played FFVII you will be mad at having bought a thing that is titled "REMAKE" and finding out it's a sequel/spin off and not a remake at all.

In some sense I feel bad because Square definitely has tried to make appealing gacha mobile games over the years, but it doesn't seem like any have successfully captured the younger audience away from the titans of the genre (Genshin/WuWa/Zzz/Honkai) I think their reliance on FF characters is a crutch. They should just make a shameless waifu game without relying on milennial/genx nostalgia fags so they have enough cash to keep the company afloat. If they still want to have FF elements they can just keep chocobos and peripheral FF shit in it. Just have Nomura create some original female characters with the sole purpose to shill out their sexual appeal. They'll have to do it this way because it seems like Square tries hard to protect their beloved female characters from being passed around, so then just make new ones. Right now, the only Square related female character that is shamelessly promoted sexually to other games and genres is 2B.

What a retard. Back in the day there wasnt many mechanics to portray sephiroth as strong so they included the "take 0 damage" thing, but you cant do that in rebirth. They made the flashback a PLAYABLE section, therefore it requires from cloud and sephiroth to be not only playable, but also not have sephiroth take 0 damage or one shot everything. Instead, they made sephiroth extremely fast, with OP skills, a very generous parry mechanics and his limit increases far more than any other character in the game.

The only good part of the FF7R project is the music, Nobuo Uematsu is both the crown jewel and saving grace of Final Fantasy good and old. That said the entirety of Rebirth falls flat because they ruined Aerith's death (they also fucked a ton of other things but this was the most unforgivable) by destroying the sudden sense of loss and finality and obfuscating it with time travel/multi-verse/Cloud being a schizo/self-referential meta/schrodinger's cat bullshit.

They also just copy/pasted the ending of Remake where you fight Sephiroth and arbiters of fate AGAIN. They traded sadness for speculation. The emotion felt from the original game is lost because the player (regardless of whether they played the OG or not) is too confused and busy figuring out wtf is happening to be sad.

We didn't even get the scene where Cloud places her body in the lake, baka.

Making sephiroth take 0 damage or one shit everything would have made the entire section pointless, it robs the player from re-learning the game, to play as sephiroth and test him out, to show that Cloud was weaker than sephiroth but still a proper soldier first class as he should (in his version of the story, anyway)
