The guy who got the shirt stated his permanent ban was worth it, they knew what they were doing and they still did it and then some. They got world firsts on a ton of fights, some random unknown guild that didn't even have a full group getting server announcement achievements one after the other. Something was clearly wrong.

The only thing Blizzard did wrong in this situation is they banned everyone in the entire guild for a week. People who had nothing to do with it got screwed.

Its funny because a similar thing happened in old school runescape.
A player pickpocketed a jmod and got a weird potato item. the player found out this item was some kind of admin tool for mods only.
he had access to bank from anywhere, could attack other players, generate unlimited gold or any items, even reset other players stats to 1.
I think he tried to do some shady shit with it but the jmods were quick to temp ban his account and remove the item.
I don't think the player was perm banned though.
Some event let you pickpocket players for the event area and the jmod shouldn't have had the admin item in his inventory while at the event.

Just read this article about it:

https://www.engadget.com/2014-04-25-wow-archivist-the-martin-fury-incident-friday.html

Sounds like Blizzard really were the retards here. The guy did what basically anyone would have done and test it out to see if it actually worked, which it did. He assumed Blizzard had given it to him on purpose because of the months it took for them to fix is hacked account. He didn't keep it a secret either-- evidently lots of people knew he was using it.

This is 500% an error on Blizzard's part lol. For them to ban the guy is just bad judgement on their part, but then again, Blizzard was never very good at anything related to politics or justice.

Yeah, and that's why Blizzard should have taken responsibility for it. It's not like they were incapable of taking the time to determine who was actually worthy of the title/achievements after the fact. but since it's blizzcuck, it's no surprise that they can't admit fault. hell, they can't even design a good story

>GM ITEM
The way we did. If you were using a GM item flagged piece of gear without your account/character being GM flagged, it fucking KILLED you. Note this was back in a game when dying could erase 6+ hours of sitting on your ass grinding mob camps - people did not fuck around with random shit. Though the rare times that GM or Guide teams (volunteer GMs; I started out there before getting paid) send items to players that weren't approved - there WERE approved items we were allowed to give out, just none of our gamebreaking shit of course - that if someone died from it unintentionally we'd revive them, give them all their XP back etc. People make mistakes, even GMs - we would never ban a player for using a GM item unless the appeared to do it in a cheating way or tried to conceal the fact they had it in the first place. This did happen once- a guy left the offending gear on his corpse after he figured out dying several times that picking it up would just kill you again (also if you died to a GM item, I wrote a specific particle effect and message so everyone would KNOW something happened and not to touch it again/loot it, you are to petition a GM team to pick it up and yo'd be in no trouble provided you didn't fuck with it or came upon it by fucky means. ), and was trying to find out if there was a way he could use it still on his corpse, and he lied to GMs of what he was doing, so he got a temp ban after being stuck in the punishment box during the inquiry.

MUDs are text only versions of WoW. Due to their simplicity anyone can learn to create areas for them and they don't really have a set style.
Exploring is one of the main driving reasons to play.
A couple players used a teleport spell that let them go directly to another player. This player was in a room one of the admins used as a workshop. Nothing about this room is any different than any other room. It didn't give anything or let them do anything.
They both got banned, from a game that had about 100 players, after playing there 5+ years.

Let me spell this out for you as plainly as possible: being gifted an OP piece of gear from a GM after waiting for months for your account to be restored is a perfectly valid excuse to not ask any questions about the nature of the gear in question. Everything about this scenario portrays the user as innocent. Only an actual idiot like the guy from pic related would see this item in their delivery box and assume that it was a mistake.

The game is so easy to cheat in now that it's hilarious. Don't even need Blizzard to accidentally give you OP items by accident anymore when you can just abuse their spaghetti code. For example, there's an active gold duping exploit that's real easy to figure out. If you want to see it in practice, look at NA's auction house for low level reagents from vendors. I forgot which one I last saw, but there was a vendor-bought item with a really high price that no sane person would ever buy. That's not a gold seller thing; that's part of a gold dupe that Blizzard hasn't fixed for over a decade. I won't spoil the steps, but it does involve buying that overpriced item from the AH. Yes, this sounds like a crappy sales pitch to make an idiot buy a wildly overpriced item. That's exactly why this dupe hasn't been fixed.

Burning Crusade was great but had a major issue where you could fall behind on the content and not be able to do the new shit due to really shitty RNG for your tanks or something making them far too squishy.

Wrath significantly reduced the difficulty allowing people to start on a new raid when it comes out and struggle but likely be able to do the first boss or two and at least inch towards proper clears.

the issue is post Ulduar the game fell apart, sure icecrown citadel was a nice last hurrah but anything after was just a wet fart.

although it was really easy my favorite memories of WoW was playing easy mode Naxx at the start of wrath, used to main tank during that time and was i think the 3rd or 4th best geared tank on my server before typical guild drama and i bounced when they kicked my friend out of the guild for a dumb reason, i heard that guild didn't survive Ulduar.

not that it matters, i build up my Marksman Hunter and just pugged shit through the rest of the expansion, armor pen was obviously nerfed to the ground as by the time ICC came out i was doing triple the dps of the second highest dps in every pug group i went into.

Why would a gamer expect game content he's facing to not actually be valid game content? Why would a player ever expect that the devs actually gave him real cheats when the whole structure of an MMO is based around everyone having to play legit?

>No other item in the game has the special effect of instantly killing any enemy in the game
>Having even 90IQ makes you able to reason that such an item would be incredibly broken and completely ruin all encounter design hence it was not made for players to obtain
>Furthermore, if you have a brain, you can deduce that using such an item to farm endgame content will go beyond the excuse of curiosity
Why are browns incapable of reason? Anyone who has played any game ever would instantly realize that this item was not meant for players and beyond using it to kill a random NPC to see if it actually works, would simply contact a GM or destroy it.
>"If you get a chance to cheat, take it"
Do you third worlders even realize that this is why your countries are shitholes?
