the game right at the beginning spelled it out that the world is hitting 100% tension and nuclear war is on the horizon if things don't de-escalate

Ubisoft just wanted to nuke the world to sell their post apocalypse DLC anyway

Nothing, it was just framing for the game so you could go around shooting bad guys and capturing the same 3 bases over and over again.
