The devs were cooking up some satanic black magic. Sick shit. You can essentially cheat any high score challenge with land trick modifiers, though.

The developers went with a free roam sandbox, so the challenges were then untethered from the 2 minute timelimit of previous games. They were free to make individual challenges very hard.
