Every time I import a face preset the eyes are slightly messed up. One of the eyes is smaller and lower than the other, it's impossible to unsee it once I see it.

I tried importing several face presets (racemenu) and they all turned out like this.

Is there a process for importing that's different from just dropping the .jslot into preset folder that I could be doing wrong?

I know about the more attractive bandit mods and the NPC overhauls that change them, but I find that even those don't make the bandits as attractive as static NPC replacers like Bijin or Pandorable's. Botox for Skyrim is the only one that makes them look pretty cute although the anime-looking faces don't mesh well with the rest of the game. And I'm too lazy to make the mod myself.

I wish Skyrim modding wasn't a second job. You really can't just go from 0 mods to fully modded in a day.
Day 1 is searching and downloading the required mods, looking for things you want to include and downloading a billion things.
Day 2-5 is trying to get stuff to work at a baseline without adding any big stuff then troubleshooting the big stuff one by one so you don't waste your time if you run into a problem.
Day 6 you finally get to mess with bodyslide and checking what does and doesn't work, clipping etc, and fixing that.
Day 7 you finally decided to play for a while and then realize it's still Skyrim and then you quit and eventually delete everything because it takes up 200 gigs at minimum.
I keep forgetting that modding will never solve the problems of Skyrim.

If I wasn't so lazy I would create a barebones modpack that had all the necessities for people who don't want to go through the hassle of getting all the basic dependencies, fixes, and replacer mods but also doesn't have a bunch of other shit that would conflict with whatever else they want to later install or pick out for themselves. It seems like there's a demand for this.
i.e. it would include shit like script sources, SkyUI, Po3 tweaks, an animation loader, etc. and then maybe some additional stuff like 3BA, HUD replacers, and a follower framework.
It wouldn't include things like texture replacers, ENB/CS presets, fonts, or perk overhauls since all those are a matter of subjective taste and would also heavily bloat the modpack, instead a selection of those would be linked somewhere so that people who download the modpack can pick out whichever ones they like the most.

Something like this does probably already exists actually but I've never used modpacks so I wouldn't know. If it does then people need to start linking it whenever someone asks for a basic starting modpack.

Anniversary edition is literally just SE but with some Creation Club DLC content. Unless you're referring to the specific 1.5.97 version of SE. It doesn't make much of a difference anymore, but if you want to use 1.5.97 you have to get that version from the Steam depot if you don't have it installed at the moment. Certain mods and dependencies also are specifically made for AE or pre-AE versions, like the unofficial patch or script extender, but otherwise almost all mods should work with either version. If you download a mod that doesn't seem to load in on 1.5.97 you can open it in SSEdit and change the version number in the .esp/.esl header section from 1.71000 to 1.70000.

I think most new mod releases are made with the assumption that players will be using post-AE versions but it all just comes down to whether or not you want Creation Club content in your game or not. It's probably easier to mod post-AE versions now than pre-AE versions but it wouldn't make much of a difference. I use 1.5.97 (pre-AE) myself and haven't had much issue.

Looking for and trying out texture mods is the worst part of modding Skyrim in my experience, the file sizes are large as hell and most texture mods unironically look like garbage even with the higher resolutions because they don't usually have a cohesive aesthetic with the rest of the textures or game. And 4k parallax textures will kill your performance if you don't have a top notch GPU and CPU. I've had to go back to find some 2k LE texture mods from like 2015 to get a look I really like.
