>right wing vs left wing
I tested 135 when I was 12 and I have found that people that consider themselves strongly on one side of the political spectrum or another have an incorrect understanding of their own political stances. The reality is that the vast majority of people have more nuanced political ideas than they think they do and the average trends center over extremes. Further, most people who profess to know their own IQ cite online tests that are easily practiced, multiple choice and do not factor in the time it takes to solve each question, which leads to on average a minimum 10 point inflation of tested IQ, if not more. All of this is subject to bias however, as I cannot perform an actual study on my lonesome despite being able to design a theoretical one, best I can do is select from more neutral studies and attempt to make links between results.
A lot of these articles cite polls with inherent selection bias as well, and their results are simply presumed to be accurate when extrapolated to the general population. For example, those of atheist bias will claim that only low IQ people are religious, but will conveniently leave out the data that most religious people live in underdeveloped nations, however when the IQ of these people are then linked to race, then it becomes a socioeconomic issue.
My conclusion is that people are biased, and primarily care about winning than arriving at conclusions that are as close to the truth as we can divine, and IQ is therefore utilised only as a superiority qualifier to this end.
