bf1 was the only game I played where the scopeless rifle really felt like a rifle without a scope and was also viable. It was pretty much what you described.
90% of ww2 ww1 games that are only scopeless bolt action rifles make them weak and feel like shit for the interest of balance.
Bonus points if theres no crosshair or tracer cause realism, so you never know how tight your spread is or really where you shot at all

Haven't played insurgency in ages but holy fuck I vividly remember getting pissed at retards who would try to camp with a fucking Mosin or some shit, the rest of the team is dead, and they're using a useless gun that does the same damage as a semi-auto and just sucks more. Inevitably they completely miss and get skullfucked as soon as the enemy does find them.

I'll always praise the MAC10 for it's one of the clutchest early game weapons in 7.62 High Calibre and mods for it
