on the third match, the other guy switched to ice climbers and started an infinite stunlock combo
i immediately deleted the whole thing and never played melee ever again

I started playing RoA2 instead. Or rather, I play Melee with people I know, and I play RoA2 with randoms on ranked and casual.
I do not miss netplay Falco.

Is ranked mode still a paid subscription? for the cost of a copy of roa2 on sale, you can get the privilege of playing falcos on ranked... for 4 months!

I think the worst part about playing Melee beyond the purely casual level is that Meleefags dicksuck Fox and Falco 24/7, to the point that their kings of dicksuckers that they call "community leaders" ban every single map, item, glitch, bug, etc that doesnt allow Fox or Falco to play as they normally do (aka bullying and trashing every character that isnt those two).

This. The thing that pushes Platform Fighters into any realm of relevancy for me is being able to play the full range of 2-4 players, teams or FFA. Only being 2 or 4 players, and only being teams, means I'm heavily disincentivized to play it, as I'd rather get good and have fun with a game that can do it all.

Okay but Icons was straight up trying to be Melee and the characters were expys. RushRev went in a bold new direction and re-re-redesigned the movesets. So it is the appropriate reference if the Slippi dev wants his game to completely supplant Melee.

Side note: I loved how chaotic and aimless RushRev's updates were. There would always be several surprise reworks or added functions every couple months. But this guy wants the complete opposite. "We're never going to update our characters! Huzzah!" This mindset is what happens when you have no experience balancing a competitive game + you worship a game that is not a fucking broken mess by sheer luck. Imagine how he'd react to a wave of negative Steam reviews after a Genesis top 8 is all one character.

If Fluid Games' untitled project is the next Icons: Combat Arena, then Combo Devils is the next Rushdown Revolt! Exciting times for a platform fighter fan.
