The reason they don't do that is that the game existed prior to steam, and they have their own system to push patches whenever a new build comes out. This allows them to deploy patches with very minimal interruption to the player.

It's beyond reasonable, and you should be thankful they even made a steam release for your retarded ass if you don't understand what's going on. You're essentially complaining when you're the one receiving an additional service in the first place.
