You ever think about how weird it is that we re-watch old episodes of review shows? Like imagine what people would've thought in the 80s if you told them in the future you would be watching reruns of game reviews for fun. Then again Mystery Science Fiction Theater was a thing back then, so maybe they wouldn't find it so weird.

Back in May before SKG started to take all of Ross's attention, he said it was possible that the movie could come out by 2027 if everything went smoothly. Is this actually reasonable? Nnnnaaaah.
Even if every episode of Game Dungeon was at its best, and they're not there's a lot of duds, GCCX is so much more than just the section where Arino plays and sucks at a retro game.
You get a whole section on mom and pop arcades/parlours or interviews with classic Koei strategy devs, there's just a whole lot more that elevates it.

There's potential for Game Dungeon to one day surpass GCCX, if Ross doubles down on making every episode as interesting and unhinged as he can.

He emulates a bunch - Carnevil, Bozo and Captain Zzap, got a bunch of footage from different platforms for Baldies. Lot of the DOS games he plays aren't DOS at all etc.
He's just a perpetual cheapskate and isn't going to shell out for a console or peripherals unless he absolutely has to. And there's a billion games for PC, especially when you have his immunity to garbage, so that's not likely to happen. Didn't even buy his own wheel attachment for racing games, that was a gift.
I think VR was the only time he was ever ahead of the curve out of excitement and that turned out to be a big dud.

I think Revenant is a special case because it's presented as a Diablo clone where all playstyles are at least viable, and melee only becomes obviously laughably bad midway through.
But that was also the case with a lot of old rpgs, part of the design was throwing away the first character or party because you figured out that the class/build was worthless and it wasn't even that painful because you only bought 1 game every 6 months anyway. Diablo is more of the outlier for letting you use anything and cruise through.

But also Revenant was a lot of east-euro dude's game they played when they were 12 so there's some seethe in there if you don't automatically love it.

That's strange because Titan Quest's aesthetics and setting hard carried me through it, I loved the Magic School Bus effect of "talk to random civilians and get a spiel on this one niche job that existed in this time period that the devs obviously loved reading about".
Sacred's worldbuilding wasn't nearly as involving, at least until they went full Kraut autism in 2. Shame it didn't continue, would've loved to see them play with their own setting more.

i didnt give a shit about worldbuilding or lore, i was a kid of 13. Sacred had european fantasy aesthetics that i could relate to, a lot of loot and spells and complete openworld, which i havent seen anywhere else at the time. Secret places and mechanics that i could only learn about from videogames journals was a nice addition too.
Too each his own. I acknowledge that overall titan quest is a better game but back then i wasnt objective.
