When did you get rid of your game collection?

When I turned 21 I suddenly walked into my room and looked at my collection of 100+ games and was overwhelmed with disgust. I just couldn't imagine anyone respecting me if I brought them over and they saw this huge pile of manchildren toys in the corner. I went out and bought some books and my life has been better off since.

coincidentally, i sold my game collection at 21 as well. not because it was cringe, but because i switched mostly to PC, and used the money to upgrade my GPU and buy a bunch of anime merch instead

I didn't, my mom called me up one day and went "hey your uncle wants to sell all these old games you've got on ebay" and I went "sure, whatever". If I waited a decade I could've probably made a few grand off of selling that shit to balding millennials.

The one thing I do miss is all the magazines I had. Sometimes I wish I could look through them again, but they got thrown away at some point when my mom moved, I had hundreds of the things amassed over 20 years.

All of my childhood stuff from 6th gen and prior console stuff got sold or handed down to my cousin. 7th gen consoles I mainly rented via gamefly so I only ever owned like 6 games. From about 2008 onwards I was 99% on Steam.
Cleaned out all my old physical PC games about 3 years ago. They were all pretty useless anyway since nobody is gonna go to the trouble of installing from discs on PC these days. Its easier to just rebuy or pirate those old games.

38, 1000+ games here. Realized I probably only have a solid 10-20 years at best to game before im an old crusty fuck. I cant imagine myself playing angsty jrpg 14 years olds when im 60+. I can never get through that many games. I feel overwhelmed by my collection now. I need to start thinning it out.

I didint get rid of it entirely but I did prune it.
Im not a hoarder like r/gamecollecting so i just tend to keep stuff I really care about.
I should sell off my vita games though.
Cartridges eventually die when they are unused and my vita runs SD2V so i cant use them.
I should start making physical versions for PC indies I like though.

Coincidentally, I started my collection at 21 once I got a girlfriend. Her vague interest in games led to her getting a DS at the time, and we had bought the LotR trilogy on PS2 and especially enjoyed Return of the King since it was co-op.
