Just be aware if you play Enhanced Edition you'll want to play version 1.2.15 instead of 1.2.16 as that version introduced stuttering issues and they never fucking fixed it

Play the Remake. If you've never played SS before it's completely fine and easier to figure out. The original has more fun funky jank and SOVL but even the cleaned up controls can scare some people off and the remake's fiiiiiiiiine and even does a few things I like better. So if you play it and you still want more then you can check out the original (Or SS2)

both are good. if you like the game ull probably like it enough to want to play it again and then you can try the other version.
remake has some weird changes like only 1 specific head can be used for the eye scan and the added upgrade system adds a mechanic where you get upgrade material by picking up and vaporizing every item you see to get the upgrade material. you dont gotta do it, but if you do want to upgrade guns its really tedious and fucks the flow of the game. Last boss is complete shit in both versions. Cyberspace is a definite improvement in the remake but also EZ
original definitely feels snapper and also feels like enemies are more aggressive. I like how it feels to put thing in inventory and just throw out a grenade from the on screen menu. remake misses out on the tactile feeling of interaction with stuff and dragging items around with the mouse. its a little thing but i think it adds to it over all.

I love "trapped in a sci-fi facility" horror-ish games like Half-Life, Dead Space, Bioshock, Alien Isolation, SOMA, etc, so you'd think System Shock would be right up my alley. But its artstyle is so fucking cartoony, even in the remake. Like, look at this shit. Looks like a Halloween level in a kid's game, like Crash Bandicoot or some shit. What a waste

SS was anyways an adventure where you play as a way past cool radical cyber punk hacker who hacks the Pentagon for kicks, and agrees to crack for the megacorp so he can get a going into video games machine implanted in his skull. In the game you zoom around the station on rocket powered roller skates while slicing up cyborg ninjas with a laser sword while injecting experimental combat drugs and listening to not Nine Inch Nails.

Played the original just fine. 3 - 5 minute loops is really good by vidya standards. You should see Persona and its horrendous 30 - 60 second loops.
