Last time I bothered to look, they intended to have PVP and PVE on the same server with the Warmode bullshit turtle uses, meaning no one is flagged, and if you use warmode, they'll just wait until there are 3+ of them, flag, kill you, and then brag in chat. That alone kills it unless they wised up since then.

it's quite simple and accessible, it's what made WoW the juggernaut it was - do every quest you can find, kill every enemy between you and the objective, loot every item to sell for money. since it is a fresh realm (new one is named 'ambershire') there will be players everywhere at every level doing every bit of content - group quests, dungeons, whatever there is available. once you hit level 15ish, you can do your first dungeon and from then on most zones have their own dungeons as you level.

they focus on 30+ zones because there was a crippling lack of content for that level range. 30-50 was wasteland in vanilla that often had you grinding out entire levels just so you could finally do some quests in WPL and get the ball rolling again. they have added plenty of content like new quests and areas to the starting zones but there is no sense in remaking them entirely when they function just fine as-is

Turtle is separate. It's the oldest classic+ server, but IMO it's pretty jank and uses the 1.12 client with all the problems that come with that. It also has unironic paid shills and they advertise on places like reddit and youtube so never assume anyone talking about it is being genuine.

Ascension is completely different. I've heard it called the retail of private servers and that seems accurate. It's full of cash shop and P2W crap but it seems to be run quite professionally.

Epoch was a different classic+ project that was run by amateurs who were way in over their head. They essentially turned the technical side of the project over to Ascension so they can focus on the content creation, in exchange for putting Epoch on the Ascension launcher and the exposure Ascension gets from that. For now they are promising to not put any P2W stuff in Epoch but it's anyone's guess as to whether they stick to that or not.

It's not like the zones were empty on the old server. I played on turtle before I got bored around level 45 and when I was doing quests, there's always and I do mean always, been at least one other person doing the same quest as me (alliance). In the starting zones it was closer to 4-5 people. Maybe now this will chance since some people will move to the new server though.
