huh I guess it is dragon age origins. that's weird, you wouldn't think that's a goty tier game. it's pretty good at least, all the other stuff that was well-liked at the time has aged terribly
I guess indie games weren't really being released in very large volume yet at that point and AAA had already gone to shit. Kind of sad really.
Nintendo was in the Wii era so they weren't doing much. I guess Fossil Fighters and Rhythm Heaven had their Western releases, and HGSS had its Japanese release, depending on which you count. Left 4 Dead 2 was 2009, but it was blunted by being released so soon after L4D1, which is weird to think about considering how much I wish devs would do quicker turnarounds these days instead of spending a decade between new entries. SF4 vanilla was 2009 and is probably at this point the most important fighting game ever released only after SF2 considering the FGC revival it kicked off, so that's maybe a contender.
Overall a pretty shitty year though. I'd guess below average, but there were probably a few other bad ones around that time.
