This and Prime 2. What a magical experience both were. Also BotW and TotK would both be really enjoyable to experience for the first time again

>erase your memories of it to play it for the first time again

But once you had erased it, it would be as if you had never played it before. You still ultimately end up with one memory of playing Metroid for the first time. So you merely shifted the point in time you experienced the memory.
It might even slightly degrade your opinion of the game since you'll be playing it as a much more experienced gamer with more memories of other games to compare it against.

This would destroy Prime seeing how many great metroidvanias were released since. But tendies wont admit it because they are forever stuck in the past. Games like Ocarina and Prime remind them of when their parents were still together

that one isnt even that bad. Later on you get an underwater nutty putty cave experience where you have to crawl through tiny cave openings and shoot water bugs

Literally became my favorite game the instant I started playing it, but knowing the answer to everything defeats the point of the game, so there's zero replay value. If only I could forget and do it all again...

This. Played PrimeHack recently and its boring as shit. Tendies are like disney adults, they dont have a frame of reference outside of their dino nuggies tier comfort zone so everything nintendo is 10/10

I played it as an adult via emulator and it was pretty great, weaker than prime 2 but still pretty great. Ive almost developed pseudo nostalgia for it because I played it with my morning coffee every weekend

>It might even slightly degrade your opinion of the game since you'll be playing it as a much more experienced gamer with more memories of other games to compare it against
People bring this kind of thing up from time to time but my experience has been the complete opposite, i.e. the more games you play the more you appreciate everything that the big names get right. I've tried enough lesser known alternatives which people always bring up as being supposedly so much better than some other more famous game to know that they're generally never as good or have little overlap in appeal even in the rare event that they are comparably good
Reading this >>718324065 and knowing how reductive/generally shit Backloggd is would be more likely to give someone the impression that King's Field 4 is nothing like Prime
Anonymous No.718328370
>>718327096
I proved my point in the review. Theres nothing reductive about how I described the boss design and colored enemies/door use.
Kingsfield 4 doesn't PLAY like Prime moment to moment obviously. But the core appeal, of the game, the atmosphere, progression, world design, escalation, are all identical

Metroid was so good it created a whole new genre. Twice.

And the second time it crushed it so hard that Prime-likes still aren't really a thing. Somehow.

Prime is just a Zelda game in first person, it's not really a new genre in any meaningful sense
