The demo was more finished than the release game. My disappointment was immeasurable. Kingdom Valley is still the shit though

I was 10 when this came out and I thought it looked amazing in the trailers. My best friend told me it was bad and I thought he was an idiot.

I keep forgetting PS3 had this style of branding for a few years
What were they thinking

I unironically enjoy 06
If it wasn't for the awful frame rate (ps3 port) and the bugs it would've been a great game
>But Elise kissing Sonic
Who gives a shit, I'm not an autistic Sonic fan
I hope Sega gives us 06 Complete instead of Frontiers 2

honestly this, if 06 had less glitches and more polished gameplay it would have been the best sonic game

In 2006 I not only couldn't afford a next gen console, I was also a huge Nintendo fanboy. Subsequently I fucking hated Sonic Next-Gen and every trailer I saw of it was a classic example of the Fox and the Grapes.
I posted negatively about the game on message boards like 1up.com at the time, saying it will probably suck and how it doesn't look very good, and now 19 years later I really regret that because when I play the game now and I have the context of the team rushing to finish it for Sonic's arbitrary 15 year anniversary (really probably an order down from Sony who wanted a bigger launch lineup) and Yuji Naka quitting in the middle of development, it really ruined a game that I now feel had a ton of potential and one of the last truly Japanese remnants of Sonic in that pre meta era which actually presented new environments rather than rehashed shit like we get now. The following three games which were Secret Rings (which I was also excited about in 2007 for obvious reasons), Unleashed and Black Knight were the last of Sonic as we knew him. 2010 on was something else. Not the Sonic I grew up with.

Somehow it feels unofficial or amateurish, or being different purely for the sake of it and not because it's actually an improvement
Well, let's just say they rebranded to be more in-line with PS2 branding for a reason

they owned it because of their involvement with spider-man movies
and the spider-man 3 blu-ray was the only game the ps3 had for 5-6+ years

P-06 is probably the closest we have to a βpolished 06β and even then they made radical changes like cutting the hub worlds, adding new sections, adding completely new abilities to characters that go past bug fixes. That game needed another year or two in the oven and ideally a artstyle change.

>Take the PS2 logo - we created it to blend in with the rectangular shape of the console. Personally, I feel very strongly that the logo would not have looked right on PS3.
>If you really look at the PS3 contour carefully, it is rounded when viewing the console in profile. Rather than creating a typography with all the risks that entails, it was wiser to use the one from Spider-Man, for which Sony has the rights.
>It was also the wish of President Kutaragi, who insisted that I use this typography. In fact, the logo was one of the first elements he decided on and the logo may have been the motivating force behind the shape of PS3.
Interview with Teiyu Goto, designer of the PS3, per Issue 005 of the Official PlayStation Magazine.

I will never be amazed how they shamelessly and lazily tried to recreate the Shadow hype with Silver only for the whole thing to backfire and blow up in their faces with Silver being as unpopular as Shadow is popular.

So that's true that /v/ hass the most contrarian opinions, the story is still shit and the gameplay is low-budget adventure 2
