They refuse to grow up, and linger in child-oriented spaces like Nintendo games, Pokemon card shows, Discord communities, etc. Video games are especially bad, they argue the games are meant for "everyone"

I am still convinced that there's been some sort of split that's hurt vidya at the demographic level. In the past, there was a lot of crossover between games adults and children would play - MGS, FFVII, Mario, Resident Evil, Ocarina of Time, etc. These days it's become so split where it's all 20 somethings playing certain things, while kids only touch Roblox or Fortnite

Kids don't know any other games. Back in our day there were gaming magazines. You knew what was coming out and if you wanted to play it or not. Game journalism is dead now and kids just get streamlined into playing what they've known about since birth.
Also we used to surf the web. Now entire internet is just Google and Meta. There are no other pages to explore. Children don't exist anymore. They're just exotic pets.

They don't "need" them, sure, but kids deserve to have fun too. My generation grew up on wizards 101, club penguin, panfu, you name it and those games never had any grooming problems. They were full of features and restrictions to protect kids, features that have become completely lost to time

Did Club Penguin or Toontown have prolific groomer problems? It might just be a consequence of the changing times, Splatoon is completely locked down but still full of groomers.

Most of us were kids on the internet and grooming was never a problem as huge as it is nowadays. This is a cultural problem, not a "kids shouldn't be on the internet" problem

growing up is overrated and nobody in their right mind wants to do it. growing up is a meme, a shitty one at that, that died along with the value of the american dollar and our increasingly insurmountable national debt. we can't afford homes, we can't "follow our dreams" and work in jobs where we get paid well to contribute to something meaningful that we care about, starting families is prohibitively expensive, and basically a good percentage of us are living with our parents.

fix the fucked up world (that you too will have to face you fucking child) and then maybe people will "move on" but even then I doubt it because we all grew up with these things and there's no reason to just abandon them because we're older. sure, broaden your horizons, read a book and have new experiences but there's no reason I can't do those things AND still enjoy nintendo games.
