The NSA released their decompiling tools a couple years ago, and modders have been using them to great effect. Paired with the new recompilation technique, we are now speedrunning PC ports of N64 and Xbox 360 games.

The whole point of re-compiling isn't for it to run better than emulation, it's for the game to run natively.
