Why is Qud's writing considered good?
It just won a Hugo for its writing. The world design is absolutely great for a roguelike, but the writing is just intentionally obtuse using archaic words. Most of the stories are nonsensical if not outright stupid. The characters are obnoxious. The leader of the good guys is just some retard who is trying to escape in a spaceship after pretending to be wise for the entire story.
There's an entire quest about redeeming some troon who got blamed for stealing from her village after she left because they wouldn't respect her pronouns. The villains are generic race purists who don't have any other history or motivation.
Is this games writing actually good and I'm just retarded, or do people glaze it because it has like 30 different "xenopronouns" in its data files? For context, it beat out Veilguard at the Hugo's, so I'm thinking it's just retards obsessing over pronouns.
