The second they started doing cases instead of crates. Micro-transactions are always bad, but give them artificial tiers and it's even worse. A mediocre assassin grade hat will always cost more than a well modeled light blue or purple, I forget the names because it's that uninspired. But most of these randomly picked hats look like shit in the first place and never fit the 2011 guidelines Valve had established for community cosmetics, leading to even more eyerape loadouts if you aren't wise enough to use the hat removal mod

The "decline" of tf2 is almost entirely unrelated to any sort of official patch even if you can argue the base game was in a worse state from gun mettle through jungle inferno, since that itself was just reflecting the Google Holocaust and real communities dying and being replaced with subhuman ghouls creating a grotesque mimmickry of a bunch a niggas with vaguely the same interests.
