Silent hill 3 is so dogshit. The only people I interacted with irl that like sh3 were fags, troons, females. 2/3 of silent hill is heather getting to silent hill. The hospital section was rehashed, and i still find it funny that they used the silent hill 2 hospital instead of making the Alchemilla hospital that is directly linked to heather. Silent hill 3 makes you travel to her apartment and this is takes over half the game to do. They make harry mason die to a low tier mob and he died outside of silent hill lol. The hospital area was ultimately useless because the seal of metatron was a nothingburger. The knly good part of silent hill 3 was the ending area design. Sh3 is honesty just transcore at this point. No real silent hill fan puts it iver silent hill 4

Heather can't do her coming of age arc if her dad is there to do the heavy lifting for her, or if he dies slowly in her arms, giving her the exact instructions on what she should or shouldn't do.

It's implied he became a bit of a drunk, going to bars and telling anyone who'd listen about the shit he came across and how he'll never really be free from the town. He's more of a tragic character than James honestly. James ending is left vague, Harry fucking dies on a couch.
My ranking is still 1>2>3 though, 3 has way too many enemies and the reused hospital from 2 really soured the mood near the end.

Sh3 subway section was ass, the hospital was rehashed ass, the office had potential but it execution resulted in it being ass. The only real good parts of sh3 is the mall and the church. SH4 atmosphere clears sh3 easily. Sh4 has the best antagonist in the series. Sh4 has a bunch of details that link it to previous games. The characters are overall better written. The only bad thing about sh4 is the other half of the game excluding the 2nd apartment area which was ludo. 3/4 of sh3 is pure dogshit.

Don't care about SH2 Remake. SH2 put me to sleep, rare for a game to do so, but it did. Half of the Redditors who talk about SH2 didn't even play it and believe the sentient town therapy headcanon is real lore. Whereas Silent Hill is just a creepy cult town with HP Lovecraft God sleeping.

As cliche as it is, 2 is the best. 1 was a masterpiece but hampered by PS1 hardware, 3 was autistic and not very fun. 4 is by far the worst though it has the most interesting premise.

The reason I put 4 over 3 is because it at least tried something different and it arguably has the most original premise of all the games. I think it's one of the great tragedies of gaming that it's so obviously unfinished because the story is really good. The gameplay likely wouldn't have been any better even if it had had another year though but maybe we wouldn't have had to redo every level with an escort in tow and the execution of the plot might've been better potentially rivaling SH2.

SH3 is very linear and has weak level design past the mall. Most of the enemies can also be really annoying knocking you over a bunch which is just not fun. The story is also awful especially the whole part about killing Harry off-screen and the characters all suck. It probably has the best amount of bonus weapons though so it's not all bad but it's the one I revisit the least out of the entire quadrilogy. I still need to try the Western made games some day too might even do it this October.
