3D modeling and drawing have a ton of overlapping skills, if you know how to draw you already understand form, anatomy, color, texture, stylization, animation, have a discerning eye etc, if you know how to draw you can have the model in your head and just learn the tools to execute it

If you don't know how to draw then there's no telling how long it would take you to understand the fundamentals of art whether 2D or 3D, something would just look bad or off to you and you wouldn't know why
