what went so rong?

>fan base is comprised of two different factions:
>1. Ultranormie ni***r-cattle who will play story mode until they "beat" the game (low rank cinematic boss) and then uninstall the game forever after about 20 hours of gameplay
>2. Hard-core fans who will complete low rank and high rank, and then grind end-game quests until the g/ultimate expansion releases and then beat and grind that end game; they will be more likely to buy the chat sticker mtx, gesture mtx, character edit vouchers, etc, practically guaranteed to buy the expansion at full price, and at the very least will keep the game player count high for years after release which is great for long-term sales
>the ultranormies care a little bit about the game looking realistic, but not entirely
>the hard-core fans don't care at all about realistic graphics
>Capcom suits decide to overhaul the graphics and asset load from the previous two entries which were both able to run on steam decks and most toasters with integrated graphics into a state that the majority of PC users cannot run (CPU*** and graphics load too high for most machines)
>normies and hard-core fans alike trash the game in the steam reviews absolutely bombing the long-term sales legs
They could have enjoyed the same resounding success including a highly probably universal game of the year title, which is insanely good for marketing and long-term sales, if they just made the game marginally prettier than the previous entries in the series and sacrificed on their "living ecosystem" vision.

Monster Hunter is popular niche, not mainstream, Capcom thought they could make MH geniunely mainstream, it didn't work. The same thing is happening with extraction shooters too

No matter how good the gameplay could've been.
No matter how good the graphics may have looked.
No matter how good the story may be (lol).
If the game can't run, no one's going to play it.
It's been this long and they still haven't done shit about the optimization.
I wouldn't be surprised if the game already fried a bunch of rigs.
Dead on delivery of the benchmark. Quite sad really.

Yeah, old games have those as well and it was still annoying time waster. Just let us use rare monster mats (without gay ass Tickets) to craft and upgrade both Decos and Talismans

They already did that by streamlining their gameplay to the MAX
The game is 100% schizoid, spending insane resources on features only to ignore them completely.

Bad first impression and way too slow to course correct. They had 2 outs: either fix the performance to be phenomenal while keeping the shit systems, or revamp and overhaul the shit systems. They were too little too late to attempt to address the symptoms. Apparently they are fucked on the performance end at the engine level. So that decision they can't unfuck which should have been made long before sinking so much resources into a failure.

Ultimately nightreign was the unexpected coup de grace. They could have gotten away with their retardation if there wasn't a viable competitor but nightreign dropped and perfectly addressed the dissatisfied mon hun core audience.

Capcom must be in full blown panic war room mode right now about the expansion. They have a monumental task ahead of themselves to try and convert base game sales into expansion sales. They might even need to totally rethink and reorient the mon hun identity for mainline. Keep all the retarded "muh ecosystem" crap in the spin off stories franchise and focus hard on crafting an enjoyable coop experience rather than an overwrought ugly ass looking world filled with autistic details no one bothers to appreciate because the game itself is not satisfying or fun to play.

They stripped out several parts of World that people liked, doubled down on parts people didn't like, and made the game run like absolute shit no matter what hardware you play it on.

But so far MHS is nothing about the ecosystem, the first two games where about something making monsters go crazy and the incoming third game is literally Fire Emblem Three houses but with two houses instead.

Both World and Rise sold 2 millions in their first quarter, the Wilds didn't even sell one million is catastrophic. You have to understand that Capcom wants wilds to be an evergreen title that carries them up for the whole fiscal year basically BY ITSELF alone so Wilds having no legs is a disaster for them, look how they are RUSHING updates out of pure desperation.

Also, at this rate Wilds will NEVER outsell World or even rise which sold 389k in the last quarter, barely a little less than wilds. A fucking 4 years old game which /v/ shitposted to death because console wars sold almost the most recent game that was hyped as the ultimate MH game, "world 2", the second coming of Capgod, etc.xkvx8

LONG TERM PROFIT, the thing Capcom wants more than everything, the thing they promised to their investors, the thing Wilds failed to archived which Capcom was forced to admit with "cute words" (Soft sales) to trick the investors but failed and the stocks fell.

Wouldn't make the game better. And in fact they need to fix the weapon skill nonsense first before making any more stupid changes to the system.
>fucking crit draw on dual blades and other retarded innate skills + shit slots on most weapons

The games graphics and performance made no sense. It doesnt look so good to justify how bad it runs. Adding in a world also didnt really improve the experience and I would argue the 3U experience of a hunt for example is better than the instant teleporting and mounts of Wilds.

The combat also feels nothing like older MH games. Its so fluid and mobile it feels like a totally different beast.

PC is the most popular platform for Monster Hunter. It does have terrible performance, but PC players are also notorious for never upgrading their rig and throwing a shit fit that a new game doesn't run on their 15 year old computer. A lot of people also think GPU is the only thing they need to upgrade. This game is extremely CPU intensive

>PC players are also notorious for never upgrading their rig and throwing a shit fit that a new game doesn't run on their 15 year old computer.
this is true. I still run a 1050ti Laptop and a 7800 XT in my main rig. But, I don't delude myself into thinking I can run Cyberpunk in 4k with >120 frames on ultra settings.
