Legend of Mana
It looks GLORIOUS for a PS1 game, it's like you're travelling across pretty postcards.
The story is okay but it's miles better than in any other Seiken Densetsu title (and it's neat that all three main storylines and most of sub-quests are built around different types of love).
OST is Shimomura's best work even to this day (it has pretty much everything you love her work for, so you can find SF2 / Mario (& Luigi) RPG / KH similarities in this OST). Hell, she HERSELF said that LoM's OST is probably her best one that represents her style.

But my God, the gameplay
The gameplay fucking sucks and it's one of the worst in Seiken Densetsu series
Default difficulty is piss easy, the weapons you pick up from random mobs in Tower of Leires are good enough to beat the game. Higher difficulties (especially No Future) turns every enemy into HP sponge, so you need to deal with usual Kawazu bullshit and learn cryptic crafting system to make strong weapons (and armor, if you feel like it) to not spend 20 minutes per trashmob fight.
And that's not the worst part of combat - the worst part of combat is that it consists of two patterns
>use something like 2H-sword and keep cancelling your combos into first hit to stunlock enemies to death with 1-hit combos
>watch as enemy / boss goes into long-ass i-frame super and either manually dodge their attack or abuse your own long-ass i-frames (like magic casting or your own super, the fuck were devs thinking by giving so many i-frames)
And that's it, that's the gameplay. You know the gameplay's fucked when it doesn't get fixed in remaster and instead devs add function to TURN OFF trashmob fights (because you get tired of constant boring fights very fast).
