We are talking about Star Wars, and Luke's upbringing was far from average. He lived on a planet out in the ass end of the empire, that was mostly desert, but being a moisture farmer, made enough money that he had two personal vehicles for his sole use, considering we only ever see/hear of him using them. Presumably his uncle and aunt had their own vehicles for themselves. The point was that in his environment, his family's profession would be making them a considerable amount of money.

They're not all that well-off compared to Core World life, which is virtually post-scarcity and utopian. They're only upper middle class by Outer Rim standards. I consider their ability to afford multiple vehicles and droids a combination of Lars making good deals with Jawas (who sell their refurbished droids and vehicles for mega cheap compared to what the corpos would sell the same products for) and the fact that many farmers IRL have the same situation going even when they make money below the poverty line. Farms just sort of accumulate vehicles off the secondhand market and fix them up. Realistically, Lars probably doesn't have much spending money in the first place, which is why he's so happy to buy from the Jawas. Most of his wealth would be tied up in the land and the moisture absorbers planted across his acres.

In the old EU it was because the Kaminoans tried to rebel and create a new army, and when the Empire wiped them out they lost all of their cloning secrets.

The real reason is obviously that the whole clone troopers thing was thought up much later. But if I had to try to justify it anyway I'd bring.up points like using military service itself as a means to control people (teaching common people to not ask questions), and not wanting to be reliant on alien technology (that could be at risk of sabotage or the corporation could use that reliance as leverage to exploit the empire). But really it's the first one.

Actually Stormtroopers are properly named. Stormtroopers are essentially the Empire's Marines. Slightly more elite than the Army (we really only see the Galactic Army in the Solo movie), deployed as the spearhead in any operation to bust shit up hard and fast. Yeah, we often see them as an occupation force, which is more of an army thing, but the Marines were occupiers in Iraq and Afghanistan too and they are very much the shock troops of the US military

Palpatine used draft as means of subjugating the population. His goal wasn't to make the strongest military force or run the empire as efficient as possible but to stay in power forever. Both Legends and Disney canon give some actual tangible answers as to why exactly but the crux was always this. What does Palpatine even need the military for outside of making sure people are behaving? There are no other big factions that can oppose him and with Jedi gone there's no one that can oppose him because the Force is extremely OP and Palpatine is basically a god in-universe.
