Handhelds didn't become worth a damn until the Gameboy Advance SP.
The previous consoles were fucking atrocious to actually use, so many memories of trying my hardest just to see the screen at all on car journeys.

I never had GBC but I had GBA and took it with me whenever we'd go on a trip abroad. It was incredibly bad hardware. All these gimmicks just made it worse to use and more bulky and unwieldy. GBA SP was a masterpiece though.

I got that gbc in 2000 when my uncle was looking after me in 3rd grade and and heavily used it heavily until pokemon ruby came out and I got a GBA. It has a single hairline crack on the top left of the screen, but it's on the area pixels don't even show up. A few dings on the side, but generally in ok quality.
I saw it again while cleaning out an electronics box a few months ago that I shoved into a closet 7 years ago when I bought my house.
God those wormlights sucked, but it was better than not playing on long night rides.
I had a few other peripherals, but they were all stupid and madkatz brand.
