I find typing games satisfying, especially so with a mechanical keyboard. what's your favorite typing game/test website?

I only played a bit of the demo so far but Blood Typers seems pretty good.

Reminder that qwerty is dumb and bad and you shouldn't learn it
The fact we still use qwerty and teach it to children is insane

Hadn't really thought about it at the time but my hand layout isn't the same as the OP. I definitely learnt to type the way shown in OP but over time I've definitely shifted, my right hand basically pivots off the Right Shift key and has basically two separate positions depending on whether I'm typing letters or symbols.

I do the home row position for my left hand but only use my right index finger for the entire right half of the keyboard. I also only use the space bar with my left thumb. It's a weird typing habit, but I've always been able to type 60+ GWAM

Honestly I found typing games didn't help me that much when I was a kid. I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that they usually have you typing nonsense phrases or random strings of words so it just doesn't flow as naturally. What actually helped me get a lot better at typing was playing Runescape back when I was 13 or so and I'm pretty sure it had to do with the fact that I was just typing shit that I actually wanted to type rather than just what some program wanted me to type.

I was born in 1997.

I was never taught how to type. My style is completely "self taught", if you can call it that, and I have no concept of any system for typing in my brain. I just touch type and my fingers reach out with muscle memory.

Why aren't the symbol keys rugged or textured or even just a tad separated? Only punctuati(n and commas are used frequently but I often mistake the meme arrow key for 'em
But if they had a unique tactile feel to it it would be way easier to tell them apart without having to look at the keyboard.

i dont type anything like this. for example if im going to hit z i will use my right finger, but if im going to type 'zap' i will use my index finger and then hit a with my ring finger instead

if im going to spell 'dog' ill use my index finger to hit d, but if im spelling 'federal' ill use my index finger to hit f and my ring finger to hit d.

While i do have tendencies for what fingers i favor certain keys for (and its heavily biased for my left hand, with my right hand usually only operating the last 3 or 4 keys on a row), the idea that you should always use the same finger for the same letter all the time is kind of silly and must slow people down a lot.

I remember one time I was playing typeracer with some friends and they thought I was cheating because I could consistently get to ~125 WPM
I didn't even think that was especially high but maybe I'm just too terminally online. Any time I try actually taking one of those typing tests I notice my biggest hurdle is that I completely freeze up for a solid second whenever I make a typo while when I'm writing a post like this I kinda just ignore it and go back after the fact

the typing of the dead. the best piece of typing software you'll ever find on the market. though as a motherfucker to 1CC (final boss is a total bitch). impeccable tutorial too. japs got enhanced versions but sadly sega never updated overseas versions
the typing of the dead overkill is fun and all, but it was rushed as fuck and it really shows (based on standard edition instead of director's cut, no missions during levels, no items, lack of boss minigames, enemies guaranteed to flinch if you type fast enough, no typing drills, etc.)
the typing of the dead 2 is in jap so it's not applicable

I never actually learned how to type properly because I already figured out hunting and picking at like 130wpm before I ever had any computer classes and my retard vidya brain was too focused on making number go up as high as possible when I actually had them to learn. It's kind of embarrassing, maybe I should try to find another one of these and be less autistic about it

It's cute once as a novelty, but it isn't good. Last level hardest difficulty is nearly impossible and requires rare RNG. I couldn't beat it in 40 attempts after dying only twice prior to that level.

I've been playing some TypeRacer since I got a nice mechanical keyboard after typing on shitty ones all my life. I didn't think I would appreciate it so much, or how much it would help my typing. I'm trying to hit a 200 WPM score and I got really close practicing a phrase for 10 minutes, hitting 195 once, but I want to hit 200 on a random. My best so far is 185. I don't type properly at all, but I'm starting to at least incorporate my ring fingers more out of necessity for going faster. Not really when I'm casually typing here though.

Lolwat. They have more electives than ever available in high school. It's honestly depressing how much choice they have that I didn't.
