Sounds like a midlife crisis or a crashout. I've seen something like this before. The guy who made the Necromancer theme for Castle Ceasher (RealFaction is his YouTube handler) also kind of had a burnout issue when he realized none of his new music would top that one. This sort of stuff is more common than people realize.
