That's not Max Payne, Stranglehold or Vanquish. And far off it. And as far as non bullet time shooters: The Punisher i suppose. Even the more janky Payne clones like El matador is probably more fun. 1 - Basic movement is janky and horrifically unresponsive, no I don't fucking care about "muh realism" the game feels worse to play than Jak and Daxter when it comes to running around AND since ND were so up their own asses they bragged about it. The jumping was an abomination on the level of some of the worst licensed NES titles ever made. We're talking utterly repulsive.
2 - The melee combat uses Sonic's homing attack despite the characters all moving far too slowly for the homing attack to be a requirement for smooth gameplay making things look stiff and automated. Not to mention the very essence of targeting and positioning yourself to ensure your punches land where YOU want them to should be an absolute factor in an M rated game. As it stands it's more childish than most Mario games that expect you to position yourself properly to collide with enemies instead of the game doing it for you.
3 - The shooting having two kinds of aim-assist. There's the aim-assist you can turn off to not feel like a bitch but there's a second permanent aim-assist you can't touch because it's a console game and ND are of the belief that you the player can't aim for shit especially with a controller.
And now for the worst part of all. THIS IS ALL CARRIED OVER FROM THE FIRST GAME. And don't get me started on the borderline retarded enemy AI which I was foolishly tricked into believing would be incredibly intelligent only for it to regularly get caught in door ways or do other retarded shit.
I hate it's gameplay for being inferior to what ND made over 20 years ago. The fact that the only "improvement" if you can even call it that is the graphics but that too has been at the sacrifice of a unique and distinct art style that I unironically thought they died after Jak X.
